600 Families Smile Again
“OUR LIFE SPREADS LIGHT WHEN IT IS GIVEN IN SERVICE. THE SECRET OF JOY IS LIVING TO SERVE.”

“And in the end,” St. John Paul II says, “everything else will turn out to be unimportant and inessential, except for this: Father, Child, and Love.” It is this love alone that teaches us everything, and it is this love alone that Pallotti’s young sons and daughters live each Christmas season at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School.
Founded by the Pallottine Fathers in 1954, its student ministry organizes The Giving Tree, in which the entire community participates to help their neighbors in most need. As the gifts come in to make the little ones smile, we are reminded of Pope Francis’ Christmas message last year:
Today, as the winds of war are blowing in our world and an outdated model of development continues to produce human, societal and environmental decline, Christmas invites us to focus on the sign of the Child and to recognize him in the faces of little children, especially those for whom, like Jesus, “there is no place in the inn” (Lk 2:7).
Every child deserves to smile, especially on Christmas morning; the very dream of our Pallottine Father General Jacob Nampudakam. As he says, “when a child smiles, God smiles. When a child cries, God will certainly cry. Kids everywhere manifest the beauty and love of God. Their faces mirror the face of God!”
So, as these students made over 600 children smile, so, too, did they give Jesus a most beautiful birthday gift.
