Brazilian Youth: I'm Pallottine, I'm a Volunteer
"[VOLUNTEERING] IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SERVICE WE CAN GIVE AS MISSIONARY DISCIPLES. TO PREPARE THE WAY SO THAT ALL PEOPLE MAY KNOW, MEET AND LOVE THE LORD. I SAY: MAY YOU ALWAYS BE GENEROUS WITH GOD AND WITH OTHERS: ONE LOSES NOTHING THEREBY, BUT GAINS GREAT ENRICHMENT IN LIFE.”

“I’m Pallottine, I’m a volunteer” is a project born in 2010, at the high school segment of Our Lady of Fatima College, in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. The college, part of the Sisters of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines), is directed by Sr. Cleusa Maria Casarin.
The initiative emerged as a mission for the youth to fulfill St. Vincent Pallotti’s words: the proof of love is action! In turn, our young people would find a greater depth to their being, and become aware of their social responsibility citizens; making Brazil a better place today, not tomorrow.
Pallotti’s principles of charity, trust, unity, and freedom are the pillars to which we have founded ourselves on. With the blessings of the Holy Spirit sending us forth to make a difference, “I’m Pallottine, I’m a Volunteer” has truly impacted the lives of so many people. If our holy Founder says we must “revive faith, rekindle charity, and spread it throughout the world,” then our young men and women are doing just that!
Currently, this project is for those in the 3rd year of high school, and the projects that the youth put together benefit all ages. As we live in a time where individualism marks the “ideal” life for many youth, it is up to us- Pallottine Christians- to show a path that is instead permeated by solidarity, love and compassion for others. It is a path in which we can put outselves in the palce of the other, adopting a true culture of Peace, “where love must mark each one of us!” (St. Vincent Pallotti). We believe, just like Pope Francis, that young people must not stake themselves on mediocrity, but dream big!
It is our mission.
