Vietnam's Highlands: Love & Service, Justice & Peace

"The Son of man came not to be served but to serve”

Ever resounding are Christ’s words today, as the Church’s missionary mandate stands as strong as it ever was, is, and will be. Love and service are two imperatives synonymous to Christian life, and to see it in youthful flesh, let us look to Pallotti’s young in Vietnam.

The Giah Dinh Children of Mary Group- with Fr.’s Adam and Avinash SAC- journeyed to Vietnam’s highlands, organizing an annual, two-day Autumn festival for the ethnic people of Sinh Mon Valley.

Through their own search to touch a forgotten periphery, they understood that their brethren to bear silent burdens; by which the family was affected most. With many broken or premature, they are often crowed- around 7 children- lacking spiritually, materially, and financially. And as St. John Paul II says, “as the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live.”

Through the little way, our Southern Vietnamese family brought what they could, as God does not look so much on the greatness of our actions, but the extent of love by which we do them. As it be so, the Holy Spirit was able to do the rest; lest we forget, our Lord works His greatest miracles through simplicity and love alone.
